P&G interview, where a test decides who gets one.

Updated · Sources at the end

P&G hires about 2,500 recent graduates a year across brand management, sales, finance, supply chain, engineering and IT, and almost all of them go through the same gate before a person reads their story: an online assessment. It has two parts. The PEAK Performance Assessment asks about how you work and has no right or wrong answers; the Interactive Assessment is about 30 minutes of reasoning games. Fail and you cannot take it again for 12 months.

The interviews that follow are purely behavioural. P&G's own advice is to answer with STAR or CAR, and candidates describe rounds of 'tell me about a time' questions with managers or directors, 45 to 60 minutes each. There is no set number of rounds, and candidates report waits of four to six months between applying and hearing the final answer.

01

Who P&G hires

P&G employs about 109,000 people in roughly 70 countries and promotes from within: it says more than 99% of its senior leaders were developed inside the company, so its graduate intake is its leadership pipeline. Graduates join brand management, sales, finance and accounting, engineering, IT and supply chain. In the US, 70 to 80% of interns receive full-time offers, and P&G says new hires are typically ready for their first promotion in about three years. Experienced office hiring is likely thinner for now: in June 2025 P&G announced a two-year programme to cut up to 7,000 non-manufacturing roles by the end of fiscal 2027.

02

What is the P&G interview process?

P&G publishes four steps: application, assessment, interviews, offer. The assessment and the interviews are where the detail is.

01
Application
Online, one application per role

Each role needs its own application. A passed assessment carries over to your next application for 12 months, so you will not retake it.

02
PEAK Performance Assessment
About 20 minutes, four sections, every question mandatory

How you work, measured against P&G's competencies. P&G says there are no right or wrong answers. Some 2025 candidates report passing the games but failing this part.

03
Interactive Assessment
About 30 minutes of games, depending on the role

Reasoning: solving equations with gaps, drawing logical conclusions from symbols, and remembering dot positions while rotating shapes. You cannot go back to change an answer. P&G may check your ability again under supervision.

04
Sales Virtual Job Preview
About 60 minutes, six exercises

A simulation of the job, including exercises P&G calls Analyze your Business and Manage Your Week.

Sales roles
05
Interviews
45 to 60 minutes each, one-on-one or panel, virtual or in person

Behavioural questions answered with STAR or CAR. There is no set number of rounds. Candidates report seven or eight standard questions per interview, and two scenario questions on top in a panel.

06
Offer
Assessment results within 30 days; the whole process can take months

Candidates report four to six months between applying and a final answer, with long silences between stages.

03

P&G's online assessment: what each part tests

From P&G's own pages, and what candidates report

P&G documents its assessment more fully than most companies do. It has a work-style part, the PEAK Performance Assessment, and a reasoning part, the Interactive Assessment; sales candidates also get a job simulation. P&G says it does not use AI to evaluate the assessments.

  • PEAK has no right answers: P&G says the PEAK Performance Assessment takes about 20 minutes, has four sections and measures your compatibility with its competencies. Answer as you actually work, consistently from start to finish. Candidates who passed the games report failing this part, so it is not a formality.
  • The games are timed and final: The Interactive Assessment is about 30 minutes of three games, and you cannot go back to change an answer. Do it on a desktop or laptop, as P&G recommends, in a quiet room, in one sitting.
  • It may be checked: P&G says it may verify your ability to solve these problems under supervised conditions. Take it yourself; a borrowed result will not survive the check.
  • One shot a year: Results are valid for 12 months and a failed attempt cannot be retaken for 12 months. Apply when you are ready, and to the role you most want.
  • You can ask for a review: P&G's assessment FAQ says a candidate can ask for a human review of the result. Ask if you think it is wrong; the 12-month lockout makes it worth asking.
  • Results within 30 days: P&G says you hear back within 30 days by email. Keep applying elsewhere while you wait.

Calibrd cannot rehearse the timed games. It can prepare you for the interviews that follow them, which are where most candidates who reach them stumble.

How to prepare for a P&G interview

  1. Take the assessment only when you can do it in one quiet sitting on a laptop.
  2. Answer the PEAK questions as you really work, and stay consistent across all four sections.
  3. Apply first to the role you want most: a failed test locks you out for 12 months.
  4. Prepare six to eight stories in STAR or CAR form, each with a measured result.
  5. Map your stories to integrity, leadership, ownership, passion for winning and trust.
  6. Expect a long process and keep other applications going while you wait.

This guide covers P&G's graduate and early-career hiring across brand management, sales, finance, supply chain, engineering and IT; experienced hires go through the same assessment and behavioural interviews. For management and leadership roles the loop is similar but the bar shifts to people, delivery and strategy, so pair it with the leadership interview prep hub. The bar for your exact role comes from the role-by-role guides, and the prep that actually transfers is spoken, so run a mock interview before the real one.
