noon careers and interviews, from the assessment to the CTO.

Updated · Sources at the end

noon's engineering loop starts with a test before anyone interviews you. Candidates describe an online assessment that mixes LeetCode-style coding problems, SQL queries and multiple-choice questions on software topics, with the coding at about LeetCode medium and the SQL between easy and medium. One candidate reports it as a three-hour sitting. After it come one-hour technical interviews that dig into your resume, data structures, databases and system design, and for senior hires a final bar raiser round with the CTO.

noon's own careers site describes the process in three steps: tell us what you built, meet the team and discuss real problems, and if it's a match, we move fast. Candidates say the resume part is real. Several report long questioning on their own projects before any coding, and one was turned down after solving both coding problems because they could not explain a project well.

noon launched in 2017, backed by Mohamed Alabbar and Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, and now runs e-commerce, fintech, logistics, food delivery and quick commerce in Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Egypt. In 2022 it bought the fashion retailer Namshi for AED 1.23 billion ($335 million).

Who noon hires

noon's Tech & Product board listed 14 roles on 16 October 2026. Five were in Dubai: a Software Development Engineer 3 for its React Native apps, a Staff Machine Learning Engineer and a Head of Engineering for Customer Experience at Every Day Labs, its in-house venture team, a Senior Product Manager and a Head of Marketing Technology. Gurugram had a Full Stack Developer (Django or Node.js), an AI Engineer working on seller risk and fraud models, and security and QA roles; Bengaluru had design roles and Giza had payments and IT support. Older noon ads for backend engineers asked for Python, Golang or Node.js, database design and Google Cloud. The ML ads ask for Python, PyTorch or TensorFlow, strong SQL, Airflow-style pipelines and production deployment, with LLM experience a plus. noon also lists a graduate AI and software engineering program for UAE nationals.

What is the noon interview process?

noon publishes only its three-step outline. The rounds below come from candidate reports on Glassdoor and LeetCode, seen in search snippets except where a source says otherwise, and they vary by team and level. The most common complaint is silence: one candidate reported waiting a month for news after passing the technical rounds, despite following up several times.

01
HR screen
A phone call

An introduction in English, your background, notice period and why you want to move. Candidates describe it as short and friendly.

02
Online assessment
Online test, reported at about three hours

LeetCode-style coding problems at about medium level, SQL queries at easy to medium, and multiple-choice questions on software topics such as backend, databases and security. Some candidates mention a HackerRank link; noon does not publish the platform. The section below goes through it.

03
Technical interviews
Two or three one-hour rounds

Each starts with your resume and projects, often at length, then one or two coding problems at easy to medium. One candidate was asked to run the code in CoderPad while the interviewer tested it. Expect questions on databases, including how they work inside, and on backend and security basics.

04
System design
About an hour

Reported prompts include a file sharing service and the database schema for a WhatsApp feature. Senior candidates describe a separate design round.

Mid-level and senior
05
Culture fit
With HR or a manager

Why noon, how you work under pressure and how you handle ownership. noon's values are blunt about hard work, so expect questions on pace and grit.

06
Bar raiser with the CTO
A final call

Candidates describe a last round with the CTO on expectations and culture fit, labelled a bar raiser. Treat it as a real interview that can still say no.

noon online assessment: questions and answers

Reported problems and how to solve them

The noon online assessment comes after the HR screen and before any technical interview. Candidates describe three parts: LeetCode-style coding problems at about medium level, SQL queries between easy and medium, and multiple-choice questions on software topics. One candidate reports it as a three-hour sitting; noon does not publish the length, the platform or the pass mark. These are the problem types candidates name and how to handle each. The test changes, so practise the pattern.

  • Coding problems at LeetCode medium: Expect arrays, strings, hash maps, intervals and sorting. Read the constraints first to choose the complexity you need, write a clean solution, then test the edge cases before you submit. Practise medium problems under a timer so the coding part leaves time for SQL.
  • SQL queries, easy to medium: Be fast with JOINs, GROUP BY with HAVING, subqueries and window functions such as ROW_NUMBER and DENSE_RANK. Think in marketplace data: orders, sellers, products and deliveries. Check how your query treats NULLs and ties.
  • Multiple choice on software topics: Candidates name backend, databases and security. Revise indexes and transactions, isolation levels, HTTP and REST basics, caching, and common web security issues such as SQL injection, XSS and how passwords should be stored.
  • Pacing a long sitting: If your link shows sections, spend the first minutes looking at all of them. Bank the SQL and multiple-choice points you can get quickly, and don't let one hard coding problem eat the whole session.

Ask the recruiter for the platform, length and sections when the link arrives. Graduate and senior candidates report different formats, and some senior candidates skip straight to interviews.

The rest of the loop depends on your role. Pick it, or paste the posting, and Calibrd predicts the rounds and questions you are likely to get at noon.

What noon screens for

noon publishes seven values on its careers site, and its job ads repeat four of them under who excels at noon, ending with "noon is not for everyone".

  • Bias for action: "There are no medals for having a plan. We act."
  • Relentless resourcefulness: when you don't know something, you find the person who does
  • Good isn't enough: noon says it is unapologetic about high standards
  • Outwork everyone: hard work and grit, in noon's own words
  • Why can't we?: challenging the status quo and settling only when something is truly impossible
  • Extreme ownership: "Leave it with me", with no handoffs and no excuses
  • The only way to be important is to be good: status counts for little and mastery comes from practice

Pay

noon's job ads publish no pay, and we found no dated, reliable source for noon engineering salaries, so this guide gives none. UAE salaries are tax-free; our Dubai page covers the market ranges. Ask for the range on the HR call, and cross-check any offer with Calibrd, which benchmarks the pay on a posting you scan against its level and location.

How to prepare for a noon interview

  1. Pick two projects you can talk about for twenty minutes each: what you built yourself, the trade-offs, the numbers and what you would change.
  2. Practise LeetCode medium problems on arrays, strings, intervals and hash maps under a timer, and run your code as you go.
  3. Drill SQL on marketplace-style tables until JOINs, GROUP BY and window functions are quick.
  4. Revise database internals: indexes, transactions, isolation levels and how a query planner uses an index.
  5. Read noon's seven values and prepare one story each for ownership, bias for action and resourcefulness.
  6. Prepare a schema design you can draw fast, such as group chat or file sharing, starting from the queries it must serve.
  7. Have your notice period, visa situation and salary expectations ready for the first call.
  8. Senior candidates: prepare for a final round with the CTO and treat it as a real interview.
  9. If you hear nothing for a week after a round, follow up with HR in writing and keep other processes moving.

This guide covers noon's software engineering and machine learning hiring, mostly in Dubai, with notes on its Gurugram roles. For management and leadership roles the loop is similar but the bar shifts to people, delivery and strategy, so pair it with the leadership interview prep hub. The bar for your exact role comes from the role-by-role guides, and the prep that actually transfers is spoken, so run a mock interview before the real one.
